They're grassroots communities—there's no central organizer or hierarchy, just like-minded hikers sharing adventures, suggesting outings, and connecting over a shared love of the outdoors. If you're after a flexible, community-driven way to meet hiking partners, they're a great place to start.
Not sure where to start? Two of these groups exist specifically to find partners (Alberta Hikers Together and Find Hiking Groups/Partners, Alberta), while Alberta Mountain-aholics is a tighter-knit community where partnerships form as a byproduct of connecting with people first.

A few notes to go with the table:
- Alberta Hikers Together and Find Hiking Groups/Partners, Alberta have very similar goals and rules. The main difference: Hikers Together encourages posting a specific hike with a meeting time, whereas Find Hiking Groups/Partners has more open-ended "looking for buddies" posts.
- Because Alberta Hikers Together is public, it's the easiest place to create an event or post first, then cross-share to the other (private) groups.
- Alberta Mountain-aholics isn't primarily about finding partners. People post about trail conditions, avalanche and crevasse rescue courses, scrambling and climbing routes, indoor climbing, and mountaineering objectives—partnerships tend to grow out of those interactions.
