Rogers Pass, the Selkirks, and Golden

Glacier National Park, BC (Rogers Pass) — camping & booking

• Reservable — Loop Brook; Illecillewaet (roughly half reservable, half FCFS)
• Mount Sir Donald is closed until further notice.

Mount Revelstoke National Park — camping & booking

• Reservable — Snowforest (the park's only frontcountry campground; hard-sided units, and walk-in tent sites have been temporarily unavailable — verify)

Near Revelstoke (BC Parks) — Martha Creek and Blanket Creek, both a mix of reservable and FCFS sites.

Golden, BC — the practical basecamp for Golden is the Yoho National Park campgrounds just east of town (see Yoho National Park).

• Hostels — none in Rogers Pass, Revelstoke, or Golden. The nearest, HI Yoho / Whiskey Jack, is temporarily closed.

Alpine Club of Canada huts — six, tied with the Icefields Parkway for the most of any region here

Huts book through the Alpine Club of Canada on a rolling window — six months ahead for members, three for everyone else.

• Illecillewaet Hut (A. O. Wheeler) — at the Illecillewaet campground, road-accessible and the easiest of these by far
• Asulkan Cabin — up the Asulkan valley from the same trailhead
• Sapphire Col Hut — a col bivouac hut above the Asulkan
• Glacier Circle Cabin — remote, behind the Illecillewaet névé
• Fairy Meadow Hut (Bill Putnam) — Adamant Range, helicopter access from Lake Kinbasket; winter weeks are allocated by lottery
• Great Cairn Hut (Ben Ferris) — Sir Sandford, also by helicopter

Recreation sites

This is the strongest region in the province for recreation sites that are trailheads rather than fishing lakes. All are on Crown land, first come, first served, and most are free — see how it works for the rules and the Forest Service road caveats.

• Mt Begbie Area — free, and the access point for the Mount Begbie summit trail. Four tent pads, a bear cache and a toilet sit at the campsite below the glacier, 6 km up a steep hike; the summit beyond needs glacier travel.
• Gorman Lake and Trail — free, an alpine lake in a bowl above Golden, with two tent pads and a fly-out toilet. Bikes and motor vehicles are restricted in the area.
• McCrae Lake — free, three tent platforms and a separate cooking area at an alpine lake with meadows and peaks out the door.
• McMurdo Cabin — a six-person log cabin southeast of Silent Pass, a 2 km walk-in once the snow is gone. Booked through the Columbia Valley Hut Society, not the Alpine Club, with a separate trail fee collected by the Golden Snowmobile Club.
• Cedar Lake — $15 a night just outside Golden, the convenient one, and the staging point for the Moonraker trails.
• Echo Lake — a small free site west of Revelstoke. Frog Falls, further west near Three Valley Gap, is on the Shuswap and the Monashees page.

Note that Gorman Lake, McCrae Lake and McMurdo are camps you walk to, not places to park a van.
